Glazed Apple Tart

Ingredients

2 cups CORN FLAKES CEREAL CRUSHED TO 1/2 CUP (1/2 CUP CORN FLAKE CRUMBS)
1-1/3 cups ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/4 tsp SALT
1/2 cup MARGARINE
1/4 cup FAT-FREE MILK
5 cups SLICED, PEELED TART APPLES (1-1/2 lbs)
1 tsp LEMON JUICE
2 Tbsp FLOUR
1/4 tsp CINNAMON
1/4 tsp NUTMEG
3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 cup POWDERED SUGAR
4 tsp HOT WATER

Process

1. In a medium size mixing bowl, combine corn flakes, 1-1/3 cup flour,and salt. With pasty blender, cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk, stiring until mixture is moistened. Divide dough in half and pat in bottom and half way up sides of a 9x9x2 inch baking pan coated with cooking spray. Set that aside.

2. Sprinkle apples with lemon juice. Stir together remaining flour, spices, and sugar. Mix with apples. Then spoon into crust. Set aside.

3. Roll remaining dough on lightly floured surface to form a top crust. Place over apples and prick crust with a fork 3-4 times.

4. Bake at 375 degrees (F) about 45 minutes, or until golden brown and apples are tender. Remove from oven. Drizzle with glaze made with the powdered sugar and water.

SERVE WARM OR COLD
